We are a group of like minded people believing in nature as the soul of our being. In 2010 Mountainways Outdoors was formed with a purpose to bring eco tourism structure in our native villages so as to provide sustainable career opportunities for us and the village youth. We actively promote environment and forest conservation by basing our activities on nature-based learning themes and by working in collaboration with the forest department on similar issues. We yearn to find the balance which would result in a positive human to wildlife interaction and direct our being to be that of mutually sustainable system of living.

The Hornbill Camp in Uttarakhand is serious about the ‘eco’ in ecotourism. - The Hindu
In the lap of the Himalayan foothills, surrounded by reserve forests on the bank of Khichdi River, lies Kyari a charming village perched in the periphery of Jim Corbett national park.Being a great habitat for birds and elephants, Kyari has come up as the hot destination for bird watchers and wild lifers.
Situated sixty kilometres from Nainital, nesting in a dense silver fir forest glade by a brook at a height of 7500 feet above mean sea level is Camp Vanvaas. Located away from the road; surrounded by hilltops, meadows and streams it serves as a pleasant but natural getaway from the city’s noise and buzzle.
Camp Hornbill was set up in 2010 by residents of the village 'Kyari' bordering the Corbett Tiger Reserve in Uttarakhand India. It is solely owned and managed by members and youth of the local community. It was established with a vision to promote and encourage ecotourism in the village of 'Kyari'. Camp Hornbill actively promotes nature conservation and rural development in the Corbett Tiger Reserve in collaboration with the forest department, local communities and members of the civil society.
At Camp Hornbill our aim is to seed an alternative form of nature travel that is responsible and contributes to conservation and community development. One of our foremost objectives is to have a low impact on our ecology thus we have adopted only low light cfl’s at common places like the dining hut, buffet hut, toilets and kitchen.
The Camp is visited by all 3 species of Hornbills found in this landscape giving it its name.
